The Comprehensive Horse Care Manager

How much does my horse weigh? When is her next farrier appointment? When was her last Coggins test? Horse Keeper is designed to make your horse keeping chores manageable and fun. If you own horses, you know how challenging it can be to keep track of all of your horses needs.

Keeping track of the many care details for each of your horses is what Horse Keeper is all about. Here is just a sampling of the tracking utility Horse Keeper provides:

Horses:
Create a fully descriptive entry for each of your horses, including picture, health history, parentage, breed, height, weight, and many other details. The health history page lets you enter professional services such as Vaccination, Farrier, Vital Statistics and Dentist appointments, and will even remind you when the next service is due.

Contacts:
Keep track of Veterinarians, Farriers, Dentists, Trainers, etc. The Contacts tab is fully integrated with the built-in Contacts and Mail applications. Pull up your Farrier entry for example, and a phone call or email is just a couple of touches away.

Reminders:
Whenever a service is due, Horse Keeper will "whinny" at you, even if it is not open, and will present a message as to what service needs to be performed. In addition, you can enter reminders of your own taking full advantage of Apples push notification services. Dont forget to fix that fence!

Notes:
When you weigh your horse (weight calculator included!) you can enter dietary notes for each weight entry. The weight entries are then sorted in chronological order so you can track weight changes over time. In addition to dietary notes, There is a Notes tab where you can enter your barn notes. I really need to fix that tractor one of these days. And of course, there is a place to enter notes about each individual horse.

Backup:
You can backup your Horse Keeper data or share it with other Horse Keeper users. To export, simply hit the Backup button on the Horses tab, and select the recipients email address. To Import, press and hold the attachment on the received email, and select the "Open in Horse Keeper" button that appears. Then select those items you wish to add or replace.

Sync:
Synchronize your Horse Keeper data with other users over WiFi. This helps to make Horse Keeping a family endeavor. Just select Synchronize from the More Tab, and select another device which is currently running Horse Keeper. Once the other user grants permission, Horse Keeper will download their data and allow you merge it with your own entries. Its just that simple.

Theres too much more to list. All of your info is presented in a logical, tabbed interface. Take a look at the screenshots or visit www.dancethetide.com for more info.

Pros and cons of Horse Keeper app for iPhone and iPad

Horse Keeper app good for

It has some glitches, but its worth the money for keeping track of your horses!.
Great app! Helps me keep organized and reminds me of farrier and other appointments for my horses.
Would be nice to be able to set how often you want each individual horse shod in the shoeing screen rather than just a default set the same for every horse in settings. Would like to be able to set some horses for 6 weeks while others for 7 or 8.
I love having everything at my finger tips for my horses info. A few glitches, but nothing I cant work around.
I absolutely adore this app. But it could use an update regarding its notifications. Like with a farrier need it tells you at six weeks its due. Maybe four weeks or five as a reminder that the horse needs its trim. And have an editing option for your inputs. Other than that, love it!
Helpful and easy to access it changed my tracking system from paper to digital ....

Some bad moments

This app seems to have some major flaws on the iPad. All new data (such as coggins test date) erases when I close the app. The only info that seems to save is in the "notes" section. This app worked fine on the iPod so i am assuming it just needs to be updated for the iPad? Also, at this price point I would like the app to have instructions. Plus a contact email address or phone # for support.
Waste of time. This app would be nice if it would actually save the info you enter in to track your horse. Its deletes everything I update even after "saving" it. Very frustrating I wouldnt recommend it.
This app deleted all of the content for one of my horses. Apparently its very unreliable.
This app just isnt working for me. When I go to set a date it reverts to Jan 1 before I can hit save. Ive put in my intervals for worming and farrier and when I go to add dates theyve changed to the default settings. Notes dont work at all. I can type three letters and on the fourth the first three disappear. Id like it if it worked. Maybe you can go back to the previous version that most reviewers liked.
Current version is very buggy! Dates dont work, always reverts back to Jan 1. Training module wont let you write any notes, it keeps erasing everything I type. There is nowhere to write comments about special shoeing if you dont use plain steel or aluminum. Dates dont work there either. Current version is useless!
Weve been looking for a product like this, but it needs some improvement. Ive only been using it for an hour, but Ive noticed the following: 1. Under Breed for horse info, theres no drop down - have to enter manually. 2. When Im updating health info, it frequently spazzes out and copies new entries into old entries. It seems like completely quitting the app between entries helps, but that is frustrating. 3. Of course we use the same vet & farrier for all our horses, but when I enter those services, I have to select those from my contacts menu, rather than having default entries or a drop down menu. I entered some contacts into the app under contacts, but it doesnt seem to use those or make them available when I enter health and other info. 4. We rotate deworming products every three months (like most people, I assume), but it doesnt make that easy - theres no option that reflects that. 5. Id like to track their estrus cycles, partly for breeding, partly just to help read and understand their moods more easily, but I cant find an easy option for that. Many useful features, but for such a pricey app (5$!!) it ought to work smoothly.
